The following words used in this document will have the meaning indicated: A. "EVENT" shall mean B. "USAW" shall mean The United State of America Wrestling Association, Inc., d/b/a/ USA Wresting, Inc., and its directors, officers, member, employees, officials, committees, clubs, affiliates, agents and their successors and assigns. C. "EVENT ORGANIZER" shall mean a club, local organizing committee or any other person or entity responsible for hosting, conducting and/or sponsoring the EVENT, including any director, officer, member, employee, official, committee or agent thereof and their successors and assigns. D. "PARTICIPANT" shall mean the undersigned individual who competes or is involve in the EVENT and his/her parents, legal guardians, heirs, personal representatives and their successors and assigns. E. "PERSONAL INJURY" shall mean and include any bodily injury; permanent, temporary, total or partial disability; paralysis, dismemberment; or death. F. "PROPERTY DAMAGE" shall mean and include damage or destruction to PARTICIPANTS gear, equipment and all other personal property or belongings. G. "MEDICAL TREATMENT" shall mean and include all emergency medical treatment, medical procedures, hospitalization or other care rendered to PARTICIPANT in connection with or resulting from his/her participation in the EVENT. H. "LOSS" shall mean and include any and all liabilities, losses, damages and claims (including reasonable costs and attorneys' fees), which are suffered or result directly or indirectly from PERSONAL INJURY, PROPERTY DAMAGE and/or MEDICAL TREATMENT to PARTICIPANT, or others, and which are incurred during or in the course of PARTICIPANT'S preparation for, participation and involvement in, and travel to or from the EVENT or the conduct and management of the EVENT. 2. By issuing a sanction for the EVENT, USAW is not responsible or liable for the management or conduct of the EVENT, unless USAW has otherwise expressly agreed in writing to serve in such role. 3. PARTICIPANT understands and appreciates the risks of serious injury that may occur in the sport of wrestling or in the course of preparing for, participating in and traveling to or from the EVENT, and that such activities may involve risks, including PERSONAL INJURY. 4. PARTICIPANT knowingly and voluntarily assumes all such risks of LOSS and all legal and financial responsibility therefore. 5. PARTICIPANT releases, waives and claims and promises not to sue the EVENT ORGANIZER and/or USAW with respect to any LOSS incurred during or in connection with his/her participation in the EVENT, any activities associated with the EVENT and the conduct and management of the EVENT (including as may result from the negligence of the EVENT ORGANIZER), except any LOSS which is the result of gross negligence and/or willful or wanton misconduct by the EVENT ORGANIZER. PARTICIPANT further agrees to hold harmless and indemnify the EVENT ORGANIZER and/or USAW from any claims brought against the EVENT ORGANIZER and/or USAW resulting from, arising out of or in any way associated with any LOSS. 6. Prior to participating in the EVENT, PARTICIPANT shall have the right to inspect the facilities and equipment to be used and, if PARTICIPANT discovers any condition that he/she reasonably believes to be unsafe, PARTICIPANT will immediately advise PARTICIPANT'S coach, supervisor or EVENT officials of such condition and will not participate in the EVENT so long as such condition exists. ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be current USA Wrestling members and verify same at registration. Membership cards should be acquired from the State Chairperson or State Membership Director of the contestant's state of residence, but will be available for purchase at registration, at a cost of $25. Sports accident insurance is provided as a benefit of membership, and provides coverage, within the limits of the policy, while participating in a USA Wrestling sanctioned event. No pre-qualification is required. Foreign athletes are eligible and encouraged to compete in the Junior divisions. However, they must possess a current USA Wrestling Competitors membership card. In the Senior and Women's divisions only those wrestlers who meet the citizenship requirements necessary for representing the USA in the Olympic Games and World Championships are eligible to participate in this event. For the Women's Division, wrestlers born in 1977 or before are eligible. However, wrestlers born between 1978 and 1980 will also be eligible if they provide a written statement from a medical doctor, on the doctor's printed stationary, attesting that the athlete is of sufficient physical and emotional maturity to participate at this level. Weight divisions are 44 kg (97 Ibs with a 88 Ibs min.), 47 kg (103.5 Ibs), 50 kg (110 Ibs), 53 kg (116.5 Ibs.), 57 kg (125.5 Ibs.), 61 kg (134 Ibs), 65 kg (143 lbs), 70 kg (154 Ibs) and 75 kg (165 Ibs max. and 154 Ibs min.). All weigh-ins for the Women's division will be conducted in Kilograms. For the Junior division, only wrestlers born Sept. 1, 1976 and later, and who are currently enrolled in grades 9-12 are eligible. Weight divisions are 98.0, 105.5, 114.5,123.0, 132.0, 143.0, 154.0, 165.0, 178.0, 191.5, 220.0, 275.0 (220.0 minimum) pounds. For the Senior division, only wrestlers born in 1977 or before are eligible. However, wrestlers born in 1978-79 must provide a written statement from a medical doctor, on the doctor's printed stationary, attesting that the athlete is of sufficient physical and emotional maturity to participate at this level. Weight divisions are 48 kg (105.5 Ibs with a 99 Ibs min.), 52 k kg (114.5 Ibs), 57 kg (125.5 Ibs), 62 kg (136.5 Ibs), 68 kg (149.5 Ibs), 74 kg (163 lbs), 82 kg" (180.5 Ibs), 90 kg (198 Ibs),100: kg (220 Ibs), 130 kg (275 lbs max. and 220 Ibs min.). All weigh-ins for the Open' division will be conducted In Kilograms. 3. ENTRY: The attached OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM and WAIVER/ RELEASE FORMS must be completed. The PRE-REGISTRATION fee along with the completed forms, applicable for entries postmarked by midnight April 1, 1996, is $15 for the Junior Division (per style), $20 the Senior Division (per style) and $20 for the Women's Division, along with the completed OFFICIAL ENTRY FORM. For entries received with a postmark of April 2 and thereafter, as well as at the event registration, the LATE ENTRY fee will be $20 for Juniors and $25 for Senior and Women's Divisions. Registration at the event will be $20 for the Junior Division (per style), $25 for the Senior Division (per style) and $25 forthe Women's Division. Do not mail entries after midnight, April 2. Advance tickets for the Night of Champions at the Circus Circus Theme Park, Grand Slam Canyon can be purchased, $20 for adults and $15 for children. 4. INDIVIDUAL AWARDS: Attractive awards to the top 6 Junior division place winners in each style at each weight class. In the Senior division, attractive wooden plaques are given to the top eight place winners in each style at each weight class. In the Women's division, attractive wooden plaques are given to the top four place winners. Most Falls and Outstanding Wrestler are awarded in each style of all divisions. 5. TEAM AWARDS: In the Senior division, attractive wooden plaques are awarded to the top two winners in each division in each style. Division I is for clubs with 11 or more entries. Division II is for clubs with 10 or fewer entries. USA Wrestling member clubs who are also members of the USA Federation of Wrestling Clubs are eligible to enter. Points are scored 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3 for the top 8 place winners at each weight class. 6. CLUB ENTRY: Each club must submit a $20 team entry fee (per style) along with the 1996 U.S. National Club entry form at registration. A complete master roster must be on file with: USA Wrestling's Manager of National Events 6155 Lehman Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80918, Phone: (719) 598-8181, Fax: (719) 598-9440, at least three working days prior to registration. Athletes must appear on the club's master roster before they can be placed on the club's entry form. 7. RULES: The rules of F.I.L.A., with current USA Wrestling modifications where applicable, will govern the event and competition. 8. UNIFORMS: Red and blue singlets, or red/blue reversible singlet with underbriefs required. For the Women's division, a collegiate or women's singlet is required and a sleeveless sport top is to be worn under singlet (NO T-SHIRTS). 9. PAIRINGS: In the Junior Division, wrestlers from the same state will be separated. There will be a blind draw by contestants at the initial weigh-in. For the Junior Division, the pool system will be employed if there are six or more entrants in any given weight class. For the Senior and Women's divisions, seeded wrestlers will be separated. Wrestlers from the same club will be separated when possible. The Senior and Women's divisions ' will employ the standard double elimination line bracket, with consolation wrestle-backs to third place. 10. INJURIES: In the event of injury or illness, no contestant will be permitted to continue the competition without approval of the Chief Medical Officer, whose decision is final and not subject to appeal. 11. COACHING: Floor pass PRE-REGISTRATIO INFORMATION Pre-Registration, which includes a discount on entry fees, MUST be postmarked by midnight April 1 and sent to the Las Vegas Organizing Committee office. Mail entries postmarked after April 1 will not be accepted. Late fees will be charged at registration held at the Las Vegas Convention Center. required. A floor pass does not entitle one to free admission, however, a USA Wrestling Coach's membership card does. Floor passes are $20 each. However, floor passes are free to those presenting a USA Wrestling Coaches membership card. Coaches membership cards should be obtained from State Chairpersons in advance of this event, and will not be available for purchase at registration. Coaches not appearing on current USA Wrestling membership roster must pay admission and buy a floor pass. 12. INFECTIOUS SKIN SCREENING: Athletes must be prepared and must submit to a skin disease screening priorto weigh- in. A doctor's note may be required stating that a current skin condition is not contagious. The chief medical officer has full authority, without appeal, in determining the eligibility of an athlete to compete. 13. WEIGH-INS (Junior Division): An athlete competing in both styles may weigh in only once for both events. This is contingent on the athlete actively competing in the first wrestling style scheduled. Athletes competing in only one style must weigh- in at the official weigh-in for that style. 14. WEIGH-INS: (Senior & Women's Divisions): All Senior Women's divisions wrestlers will weigh-in only one time. 15. NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS: The 1996 Champions will be honored Saturday, April 27 at 9 p.m., at the Circus Circus Theme Park, Grand Slam Canyon. Photos and autographs are a part of the celebration on the Night of Champions. Tickets, $20 for Adults and $15 for Children, include a pizza buffet and rides at Grand Slam Canyon.
